And because there's only one of each model, they don't tend to stick around for long.
Where the Badass Builds Started
The idea actually started inside the MAGS shop.
MAGS has always worked with customers to build custom fishing rods around their individual preferences. Along the way, the team began creating some of its own custom combinations to keep around the shop as inspiration.
Customers saw the rods, liked what they saw, and started buying them.
The builds rarely stayed around for long.
So MAGS decided to take the same concept online and turn it into Badass Builds of the Week.
The concept is simple:
Build something cool. Make it one of a kind. Offer it at a great price. Then build another one.
What Makes a Badass Build Different?
A Badass Build is essentially a fully assembled custom MAGS rod that the team has already designed.
Instead of starting with a blank canvas and choosing every component yourself, you can browse the current Badass Builds and find something that already matches what you're looking for.
Custom cork, different color blanks, etc.
Then there's the thread colors. Metallic blue. Metallic green. Seafoam. Lime green. Purple. Copper. Red. White. Black.
Some builds are subtle.
Some definitely aren't.
That's the point.
One of One
The biggest difference between Badass Builds and a typical pre-built fishing rod is that there is only one of each Badass Build.
Once that specific rod sells, it's gone.
MAGS intentionally keeps the collection moving, which means the selection changes as new builds are created and existing builds sell.
That gives anglers two reasons to keep checking back.
You might find the exact rod you've been looking for.
Or you might find something you didn't know you wanted until you saw it.

You don't necessarily have to buy a Badass Build to get value from the collection.
In fact, one of the original purposes of these rods was inspiration.

Every MAGS rod is built with the same attention to detail that goes into the company's custom rod program.
MAGS has been hand building rods in Gwinn, Michigan since 2017, with custom spinning, casting, float, panfish, travel, and ice fishing rods among its lineup.
The Badass Builds give the MAGS team an opportunity to get creative within that same hand-built process.

Badass Builds are already offered at special pricing, which is part of what makes them so appealing.
