32" MAGS Medium

Power Noodle vs Carbon Rods

The first step towards building your custom ice rod is choosing your rod blank material. About half of our builds are power noodles and half are carbon fiber, so it really depends on your fising style and your target species.

Power noodles, made from fiberglass, are best for smaller species and sight fishing by watching the rod tip. While carbon fiber rods are best for larger species and feeling the bite from the rod tip down to the handle.

Power Noodle

Style: Visually seeing the bite from the tip (including a panfish upbite)

Species: Crappie, panfish, etc. but can handle most fish

Unbelievable sensitivity but with plenty of backbone for when you hook up with a larger fish

Carbon

Style: Feeling the bite all the way from the tip to the handle

Species: Panfish, walleye, white fish, pike, monster lake trout, sturgeon

Customizable action (from Light up to Heavy) depending on the target species and application
